A healthy gut can improve immunity. How to look after your gut with these tips.

The immune system defends the human body from infections, toxins and viruses which helps support good health. Did you know that the gut is an important weapon that helps the immune system?  

  

The gut microbiome contains trillions of bacteria, both good and bad that act to balance health and wellbeing. Nowadays the gut is prone to even more risks, follow some of these steps for keeping a good, healthy gut:  

  

1.    Probiotics  

Fermented foods and beverages such as yogurt, kefir, tempeh or miso are rich in probiotics which help balance gut-friendly bacteria and prevent digestive disorders  

  

2.    Prebiotics  

Foods such as beans, bananas, asparagus, and almonds can help to strengthen the immune system.  

  

3.    Fibre Rich Food  

Fibre keeps things moving, sources such as fresh fruit, vegetables and whole grains promote good bowel health.

Following healthy eating habits, tracking correct portion size and avoiding overeating can help avoid potential adverse gut reactions.

A diverse range of wholesome foods from all the food groups may help support and regulate good gut health.  

  

6.    Exercise  

Regular exercise is good for gut health, recent research suggests that if not done regularly that stopping exercise can cause reversion.
