Enjoy a Healthier Holiday Season this Year!

One study has found that people gain an average of 500% more weight per week during the holidays compared to non-holiday weeks! And to make things worse several other studies report that this seasonal weight gain is not lost during the spring and summer months!!

Don’t panic!

Follow these simple ideas and plan ahead this year  to minimise fat gain while wholeheartedly embracing the winter holidays this year:

∙       Practice Mindful Eating

o   Some dishes only appear once a year, embrace the taste.

∙       Swap out

o   Perhaps one or two pieces of fruit instead of another handful of chocolates.

∙       Eat more protein

o   Protein may help offset the excess calories and consequential fat gain.

∙       Remember it is okay to say NO!

o   Direct and indirect peer pressure are profound, but you have a strong mindset.

 ∙       Plan ahead

o   Stock the fridge with healthy options too.

 ∙       Heck yes H20

o   Enjoy the alcohol but remember to stay hydrated.

 ∙       Get outside and move

o   Enjoy the fresh air and scenery while burning off some calories before your next splurge.

 ∙       Stop worrying about ‘healthier options’

o   Guilt, negative self-talk and stress can trigger anxiety.
