Why you can lose weight successfully no matter your age!

Some really cool new research has been released…

A new study completed this year has investigated metabolism over the course of the human lifespan, a topic which has been sparsely investigated in the research. 

In this study the total amount of energy used up on a daily basis was investigated in over 6000 participants (so a REALLY good sample size to draw conclusions from!), from ages 0-95 years old. 

One of the fantastic outcomes of the study was that your metabolic rate, or the amount of energy you use up really does not change that much at all between the age of 20 and 60. 

It does slow a bit, but not enough to say that this is the main reason as to why people have gained weight. From the age of 60 onward it does reduce more significantly, however. 

You can absolutely have a successful weight loss journey even as you age. We know that a reduction in the energy you use up has only a tiny contribution.

So the amazing news is that the cards are NOT stacked against you just because you’re a bit older. 

Factors like your daily levels of movement (Like steps for example…) 


Like your structured exercise sessions (The training you complete 3/4/5+ times a week) 

And of course, what you consume on a daily basis have by far the biggest effect on the outcome of weight loss is that is your goal right now.
